The premier event on the Australian macadamia industry calendar – AusMac2024 – will hit the Gold Coast, October 29-31.

This hugely popular event attracts hundreds of delegates from both Australia and across the world.

Internationally acclaimed growers, researchers and industry experts will share their ideas and experiences, providing the latest results and technical information about macadamia research, best practice, on-farm innovation and management as well as global insights and marketing perspectives.

Along with plenty of social networking, a huge trade/machinery show and the very popular macadamia breakfast and gala dinner, several new initiatives have made their way on to the agenda, including dedicated trade expo networking sessions, while the innovation lounge will give delegates the opportunity to see the best new and innovative ideas, methods, products and technology focussed on improving industry.

Owner and director Scott Allcott of Macadamia Farm Management (MFM), one of Australia’s largest macadamia enterprises, is one of the highly experienced growers on the day 1 panel session Surviving and Thriving Macadamia Production: How to Achieve More with Less.

The panel including South African grower Luke Dunstone and NSW DPIRD's Kevin Quinlan) - who have all taken on orchard rejuvenation and/or made major structural changes to business - will talk about practical ways to maintain productivity against a background of fluctuating prices, labour shortages, rising input costs, decreasing agrochemical options, changing technologies and greater quality requirements.

They will all share their predictions about what changes the macadamia industry is facing in the coming years.

Mr Allcott led a group of industry-leading macadamia growers to establish Australian Premium Macadamias (APM), an Australian owned processing company. He has a vested interest to assist and maintain the Australian macadamia industry with a strong focus on quality, yield and sustainability.

He is actively involved in research initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable yields and quality, through continuous improvement in soil health.

Mr Allcott is known for being a trendsetter, always investigating ground-breaking ways to grow the industry.

He is currently overseeing a new venture – Project Paradise - funded by Natural Capital Strategy, managed by London-based Climate Asset Management (CAM). The Natural Capital Strategy seeks to protect and restore biodiversity, delivering commercial long-term risk-return outcomes and creating large-scale impact.

Project Paradise will develop 1,500 hectares of farmland in the Wide Bay Burnett Region, planting 780,000 macadamia trees in a high-density orchard. The project started in 2024 and will be complete by 2025.

There are many ticket options available and this year for the first time we are offering a special grower rebate. For more information, contact the AMS on 1800 262 426 or email office@macadamias.org
