Earlier this year, Grochem Australia regained the distribution of a suite of plant growth regulators and associated adjuvants.
These products were originally developed by Grochem over 15 years ago, and complement its range of insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, and pheromone-based products.
General manager of Grochem Australia Ben Coombe said this is an exciting time of growth for the company.
“Adding these products back into the range has further strengthened the Grochem’s role in the pome and stonefruit markets”.
Ambitious 10SL (forchlorfenuron) is a highly active PGR for sizing kiwifruit and apples, while Cyan (cyanamide) regulates bud burst in apples, grapes, and kiwifruit.
For fruit thinning and boosting fruit size in apples, BAPSol 100 (6-benzyladenine) is the first choice for growers.
These products continue to play a key role throughout the growing season for flower and fruit thinning, and fruit sizing, which are essential to producing high quality, well sized apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, cherries, and kiwifruit for local and export markets.
Complementing these products is Bee-Scent, a liquid formulation encouraging specific foraging behaviour in honeybees.
Bee-Scent contains a synthetically produced pheromone which imitates those produced by bees, attracting them to treated blossoms and encouraging them to stay focused on working the blossoms harder.
Mr Coombe explains by concentrating and increasing the intensity of bee foraging, pollen transfer can be increased.
“Greater yields and improved quality are the typical benefits of more thorough honeybee pollination,” he said.
“It is non-toxic and not harmful to beneficial insects, making Bee-Scent a gentle option, ideal for use in IPM programs”.
