Mobishear cordless pruners

Originally sheep farmers from South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, Arnd and Heidi Enneking know a lot about innovation on the land.

Cumbersome corded shearing equipment made the most routine tasks out in the yards or paddock an ordeal. They went searching for a better way which has led to the development of the Mobishear 100% cordless tools specifically for agriculture – and now horticulture.

The original Mobishear 100% Cordless Shearing Handpiece was just the beginning. A range of cordless clipping and grooming tools for all farm livestock followed. Mr and Mrs Enneking were then approached for a cordless tool that would have the necessary grunt to cut through gnarled horns and hooves.

Heidi Enneking grew up on a multi-generational horticulture and viticulture property in the Barossa Valley and felt that a cordless secateur might fill the niche, however nothing yet existed in the Australian market. After again scouring local and international trade shows the Mobishear 100% Cordless 37mm pruning secateur was added to the range.

Just like the Mobishear cordless shearing handpiece was torture tested on the Enneking’s sheep property before being released on to the market, the secateur has been thoroughly tested in South Australia’s wine growing and fruit growing regions ensuring that they would stand up to the job.

“Our cordless tools are definitely not lightweight domestic units,” says Mrs Enneking, “they are designed to last. For example, the 37mm Cordless Secateur can cut through branches up to 37mm in diameter and goes up to 12 hours before it needs a charge.

“They’ve got the grunt to go the distance on tough, dead wood.” Soon to be released is the smaller 25mm version which is great for green canes and branches where you value speed.

The family behind Mobishear also know that when you find a good tool, you want it to stick around. Mobishear backs each unit with a 2-year warranty and supply a range of spare parts and know-how to customers who need to service or repair their units.

“No one wants to be waiting for weeks for parts or have to argue with someone in a call centre if things go wrong,” Mr Enneking said. “They won’t break down easily – they’re designed tough! We want our customers to get years of service out of our products. But if things do break, we don’t want our customers to have to bin something just because it needs a bit of maintenance.”

This commitment to service is a product of their years of experience in the agricultural industry. After finding that after-sales service was fast becoming a thing of the past, the Ennekings have made it their mission to go over and above for their customers.

Mrs Enneking puts it simply; “We really just want to provide the kind of service we would like to receive ourselves. Being Australian farmers, we know the importance of good backup service.

“We believe it’s not just about providing a great product, it’s things like our Australia-wide free shipping that make a difference. And the fact that our customers know that if they need help, that there is another Aussie farmer reading their email or taking their call, who understands them and is ready to sort them out.”

As the family behind Mobishear like to say: “It’s 100% innovation, 100% service – by Aussie farmers, for Aussie farmers.”
