The Queensland Government has announced it will be tightening the already restricted entry into the state.

The measures, which came into effect over the weekend, rule that only Queensland residents, residents of border communities undertaking essential activities and those considered an ‘exempt person’ can cross the border.

Those transporting goods for Australia’s fresh food supply line, including for the apple and pear industry, are deemed an ‘exempt person’. It is strongly encouraged freight workers who require entry into Queensland apply for a new Queensland Entry Pass as soon as possible.

Anyone wanting to enter the state by road will require a new Queensland Entry Pass, with all previous Queensland entry passes and vehicle passes now void.

While it appears possible to receive a pass at the entry, it is strongly advised to apply online for one ahead of time to avoid delays.
